Why we track the birds

Fitting a bird with a transmitter answers questions no other method can reach: how far juveniles disperse, which habitats they choose, and where the risks concentrate.

For the Chaco Eagle, tracking has shown that young birds range far further than assumed, and that much of the known mortality occurs on electrical infrastructure.
